During a period of 10 years Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson toured the UK with five different productions of Bottom, based on their hit TV Show, performing to thousands of fans at many of the UK’s largest theatres and arena venues. Souvenir merchandise was available and you could buy; the programme, T-Shirts, other clothing and even mugs. Each show was recorded for a VHS release and later to DVD, even audio cassette tapes were available too. I saw the first tour in 1993 at Southampton Mayflower Theatre, which was the venue chosen for the filming. It was filmed over two consecutive nights (18th & 19th June 1993) with the best bits from each show edited for the final video release.
Huge thank you to Shaun Gibson for the loan of many of these items. You can read what happened to Shaun and his mate Tom when they had a lads day out in 1997 to see Bottom 3 – Hooligan’s Island in Oxford. ‘Shaun and Tom take Rik from Behind!’
Let me know if you have an item that isn’t featured here. Please get in touch too if you have a story from seeing any of these shows performed. Did you buy any merchandise? Maybe you met them and got something signed? Which is your personal favourite and why?

Bottom Live Tour ’93 – 1993
The tour programme/poster, featuring a souvenir script of Bottom’s Out. Which is an episode from the 2nd series, but was pulled from transmission in the Autumn of 1992 due to a recent incident that happened on Wimbledon Common. Bottom’s Out was first shown on TV on the 10th April 1995.

As you can see extra dates were added to that on the original flyer. An extra one in Southampton for the filming and then ending the tour at the Hammersmith Apollo and other popular locations.
